About Combilings

Last updated: 2026-09-14

Combilings is a small browser puzzle game made by one person. No studio, no funding, no team. It exists because building it seemed more interesting than not building it.

What it is

A connect-path puzzle. You drag across combilings of the same colour to clear them, build combos, and either complete colour missions or survive against an accelerating clock. It runs in any browser, installs to a phone home screen if you want it to, and works offline once installed.

The whole game is a single HTML file. No game engine, no framework, no external assets — the characters and every effect are drawn with code onto a canvas. That was a constraint chosen on purpose: it keeps the game small, fast to load, and possible for one person to hold in their head.

What it deliberately does not do

There is no account and no login. Your progress lives on your device and nowhere else, which has an obvious downside — clear your browser and it is gone — and a less obvious upside: there is no database of players, nothing to leak, and nothing to sign up for.

There is no global leaderboard. The "My Best Days" screen shows your own scores and nothing else. A leaderboard without accounts would either be fake or trivially cheated, and a fake leaderboard is worse than none.

There is no energy system, no timer forcing you to come back, and nothing to buy. Coins exist to let you retry a level you nearly finished, not to be sold.

How it is being built

In public, and with more mistakes than a finished product would admit to. The devlog records them: a Survival mode that was mathematically infinite, an exploit a player found before we did, an install button that paid out for an install that never happened.

Most of those were found by people playing and saying something felt wrong. That feedback has been worth more than any amount of testing, which is why the game says BETA and asks for suggestions rather than pretending to be finished.

Languages

Combilings runs in English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, German and Italian, chosen automatically from your browser. Every page on this site exists in all six. If you would like another language, the suggestion button in the game menu reaches us.
